Who is behind series of suicide bombings, target killings ?

By Abu Muslim

Be it the cold-blooded killing of renowned religious scholar Maulana Ibrahim Salfi or the recent string of suicide bombings at the mosques in Punjab, Pakistan is presently facing severe challenge of terrorism.

The recent bombing incidents in Sialkot, Multan and Lahore apparently seem to be tit-for-tat acts of extremist forces. However, it will be quite naïve to conclude that the current spate of terrorism in Pakistan is a sheer outcome of the sectarian strife. No doubt, sectarianism has been at its extreme during mid-1990s, but the recent acts of terror don’t seem to be a sequence of what happened about a decade ago.

The anti-Islam forces are using these incidents to malign the religion of Islam and Islamic and Jihadic organizations, dubbing them responsible for the acts of terrorism. Even the governments of Muslim states have fallen victim to this band-wagon psychology, joining hands with the Western anti-Islam forces in the so-called war on international terrorism. The indiscriminate arrests of religious-minded persons clearly indicate to this tendency.

The jihadic parties cannot afford to indulge in acts of terrorism in Pakistan as their all the efforts are directed towards liberation of the oppressed Muslims in the occupied lands like Kashmir. Hurling an allegation of carrying out acts of terrorism on the religious parties can only strengthen the hands of the anti-Islam forces and countries presently engaged in the genocide of Muslims in Kashmir, Iraq, Afghanistan and Chechnya.

So the suicide bombing, a recent phenomenon of terrorism in Pakistan does not seem to be in line with the philosophy of the Jehadic organizations that will prefer to fight against all those suppressing Muslims instead of killing their co-religionists. No doubt, the ongoing trouble in South Waziristan is partly a fall out of our Afghanistan Policy, yet it has nothing to do with terrorist acts in rest of the country.

Who can benefit from instability in Pakistan?

Bombings and target killings can be of benefit to the countries like India who want to see Pakistan weak and unstable in political and economic terms. Weaker the Pakistan, it will be easier for India to achieve its goals like attaining the role of a Policeman in South Asia and securing the status of Veto-welding permanent member of UN Security Council. No doubt, Indians themselves can’t carry out acts of sabotage in Pakistan. Yet they hire agents by offering them handsome amounts. At present dozens of camps training the saboteurs are working in Indian states of Rajisthan and East Punjab and Occupied Kashmir. Similarly, the Indian consulates in Afghan towns along Pakistan borders are providing financial and technical assistance to the terrorist elements in Balochistan. In case of Punjab and Sindh, the trained agents are launched through international border, work, it has been revealed that RAW has been running a training camp in Indian Punjab town of Qadian where non-Muslim Pakistanis are trained in terrorism.ing boundary and Line of Control (LoC). For this purpose, lights are adjusted in a way that Pakistani Rangers cannot see across the border due to blurring effect of lights. The issue of infiltration of Indian agents into Pakistani soil was also discussed at the recent bi-annual meeting between Pakistan Rangers and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) held in Chandigadh (Indian Punjab). So the hiring of Pakistani unemployed youth by the Indian agents results in the gory incidents like suicide bombings at Sialkot, Multan and Lahore. The evidence collected by the Law Enforcing Agencies from the sites of bombing like the make and type of explosives clearly indicates to the involvement of Pakistan’s eastern neighbour.

The other beneficiary of the unstable Pakistan may the US-led West, which can dictate everything to only a weak country especially with regard to nuclear issue, Kashmir and the ongoing situation in Afghanistan.

Besides Pakistan, the other victim of on-going acts of terrorism is Islam itself. These bombings and other acts of terrorism are linked to the Islam to bring bad name to this religion of peace and tolerance. As far as Islam is concerned, its literal meanings are ‘Peace’. It urges its believers to bring peace and security to the world. The Islamic morality is the cure for terrorism, not the source of it. However, it does provide for carrying arms against the forces of oppression like those in the Occupied Kashmir, Afghanistan, Iraq, Chechnya and Palestine.

The Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) used to prohibit soldiers from killing women and children. This shows how much Islamic approach is benign while dealing with people from other religion. But unfortunately, the countries like India, Israel, Russia and lately Thailand are subjecting Muslim children and women to worst kind of brutalities. The latest example is the killing of 78 fasting Muslim youth in Southern Thailand by severe beating and then putting them in close containers. Is it not an act of state terrorism?

What to do?

Instead of getting hard on the religious elements and Jehadic organizations, it is better for Pakistan to strengthen its counter-intelligence capabilities to comb and nab the foreign elements and their local agents presently engaged in carrying out acts of terrorism with the objective of putting Sunnis against Shias and vice versa. Moreover, entry and exit controls at the international borders should be tightened instead of talking of soft borders. More the free movement between India and Pakistan, greater will be chances of sabotage acts in our country.

It is time to keep our house in order to stop enemy sneaking into our soil directly or indirectly. Such measures will definitely pay in terms of security, peace and economic wellbeing.
